The following report will appear in the Market Bosworth Aspect magazine, with thanks to our intrepid reporter David Linney.

We bowl all over Leicestershire and beyond as well as at The Green on Rectory Lane. In fact we eat, drink water etc and are merry wherever we go.

Season 2017 started with a Pub Skittles Evening in April at Newbold. Excellent food, Thank you Keith

We opened the Green to the public the following day and had quite a few having a go on the Green and others just came for a seat in the sunshine.

A Bridge Tea at the end of April raised money for Club Funds and next month all the proceeds of the September Bridge Tea go to a charity which this season is MIND.

Our Thursday B Team are the Happy Eaters who when playing away from home eat out after the match and when at home dine on Fish and chips or Chinese.

The club takes part each June in the Primary Schools’ Scarecrow Trail when we raise money for the School and club by putting on Cream Teas plus squash and biscuits for the kids.

We have donated for many years to Bosworth in Bloom and in our opinion the view from the gate looking at the many variety of trees in the Parish Field and beyond to the church steeple is second to none. The hanging baskets in front of the clubhouse are now automatically watered which means they have survived a couple of months instead of a couple of weeks.

League games in both The Hinckley and District league and The Coalville and District League have now been completed with a varied degree of success. One team being demoted and another being promoted from their relative divisions. Friendly games continue up to the end of the season.

President Chris Massie held her celebration day in early August had a 'Scottish Theme'. The weather played its part and 50 members and guests enjoyed a superb afternoon, both in the friendly game and afterwards with a special tea in the clubhouse.

The season closes at the end of September with a Race Night and the following week about half the club are off to Thorsby Hall for a restful weekend.

Between now and then there are still match commitments to fulfil, Finals Weekend to come and a Charity Cream Tea on September 9th from 2pm up at the Club for MIND to which everyone is welcome.

All the work involved in running M.B.B.C. from Green maintenance to Catering is done by the members and because we all participate it’s not onerous and quite honestly keeps us all fit and active.
