2018 Bowling Season Opening on Saturday 14th April 2018
Market Bosworth Bowls Club
MARKET BOSWORTH BOWLING CLUB
The bowls season is almost upon us, the green opens on Saturday April 14th, with the members keen to start and re-kindle their skills for another exciting season. Teams have been entered in the Hinckley and District Triples league, playing on Monday evenings and the Coalville and District Triples league, playing on Thursday evenings as well as various cup competitions.
Internal club competitions are being formulated and all the twice weekly friendly matches (Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons) have been arranged. All we need now is good weather for the summer, as I write this we are covered with snow!
Of course new members are the future, so come and join us and you will be made very welcome. Taster sessions are planned for three consecutive Friday afternoons after the green is officially opened i.e. April 20th, April 27th and May 4th from 2pm to 6pm. Other dates can be arranged for those interested.
A lot of work has been completed over the ‘closed’ season by various members both in the clubhouse and around the green, despite the weather. Long serving member Derrick Wain has replaced stretches of the ditch timbers and reroofed the container store - he never stops! The male toilets have been revamped and weather permitting the patio at the front of the clubhouse is being re-layed.
The first social evening of the new playing season is on Friday 13th April for all members and families to re-acquaint with each other after the winter break.
Saturday 14th April is, as previously mentioned, the opening afternoon, and anyone interested who wants to have a try at lawn bowls will be warmly welcomed, so please come along and have a go. Just wear a pair of trainers and all equipment will be supplied, as will instruction.
